.Sh DESCRIPTION
The
.Nm
driver provides PCM and MIDI support for sound cards that are based on
the Creative EMU10K1 and Creative EMU10K2 DSP chips.

It supports all sound cards based on EMU10K1 chip (SB Live! cards) and 
EMU10K2-based Audigy, Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 Value cards. 
The 'bus' emu10kx device provides
hardware access layer for MIDI and PCM devices, that mostly don't care
about differences between EMU10K1 and EMU10K2 DSPs.

EMU10Kx sound cards have a PCM part, that's accessible through PCM device,
and MPU401-compatible MIDI I/O controller, that's accessible through MIDI
device. Wavetable synthesizer is not supported.
.Sh OSS MIXER CONTROLS

These are controls available through standard OSS programming interface. 
You can use

to change them.

On EMU10K1-based cards OSS mixer directly control AC97 codec on card. On 
EMU10K2-based cards OSS mixer control some parameters of AC97 codec and
some DSP-based mixer controls.

"vol" mixer control is overall sound volume.

"pcm" mixer control is PCM playback volume, common to all PCM channels.

"rec" mixer control acts very different on EMU10K1 and EMU10K2 cards.
On EMU10K1 cards it controls AC97 codec recording level. On EMU10K2 cards
it controls amount of AC97 "stereo mix" entering EMU10K2 DSP. AC97 recording
level and AC97 recording source are fixed 
on EMU10K2 cards. AC97 recording level always set to maximum and 
recording source is always "stereo mix".

Other OSS mixer controls does not work.

You can control most of EMU10Kx operation and configuration parameters through

utility that talks directly to
