The Editor displays a graphical timeline representation of the XOpps in a Motif window and allows on-screen editing of all the objects. The displayed XOpps can be printed on a PostScript laser printer or saved to a PostScript file. Help windows are available for most of the buttons, menus, and other functional parts of the display (called "widgets"). Place the cursor over the widget of interest, hold down the left mouse button, move the cursor off the widget, and release the mouse. Now press the key to display relevant Help. In this way, you select the item for help without activating it. This application was developed by the MCA team in the Operations Engineering Laboratory (OEL). For further information, call x4-0095. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :fileMenu It is via the File menu that you open, save, and print files, and exit the editor application. Additional help is available from each of the dialog windows that appears when you select an option. File menu options are: New Displays a New File dialog window, which enables you to set up an XOpps from scratch, using no other input files. Open . . . Displays the file selection dialog window, from which you select the XOpps file to be retrieved. Save Saves any changes to the XOpps, overwriting the previously saved version of the file. Save As... Displays the file selection dialog window, allowing you to save the XOpps file under a new name, thus preserving the previous version of the file. Print... Displays the print dialog window, allowing you to print the file. You can also save the print output to a PostScript file. Exit Terminates the program. If you end the program without first saving your changes, they will be lost. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :optionMenu This menu contains options that control the set up and mode of the chart display. Set Dates Allows you to change the dates that are displayed on the page, the resolution they are displayed in, and the font size of the display text. Renumber Allows you to toggle between automatically renumbering the lines or leaving the current line number associations when lines are moved, deleted, or inserted. Plot Setup Allows you to set up the chart. The number of lines that are shown on the page, the type of lines for both the horizontal and vertical grid, and whether the lines and numbers are shown. You can also toggle whether the issue date is shown in the lower left corner of the chart. Snap Event Allows you to move event objects vertically only if the toggle is on, thus allowing you to align all events with a line. Snap Text Allows you to move text objects vertically only if the toggle is on, thus allowing you to align all text with a line. Display DOY If the toggle is on the utc day of year is displayed for each vertical line on the bottom of the chart. Display Id If the toggle is on the id text of all dated objects will be displayed. Page Forward Allows you to set the display to the next page, if you are not already at the last page. Page Backward Allows you to set the display to the previous page, if you are not already at the first page. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :file_select The File Selection Box is used to traverse the file directory system and select file names. To select a file: Select the correct directory from the Directories list. Press filter to list the files in the selected directory. You can also use the Filter field at the top of the dialog window to display selected filenames with wildcard characters (for example, *.xopps). Select the correct filename and choose "OK." The selected filename is loaded into the Xopps editor if the Open button brought up the File Selection Box or saved if the Save or Save As buttons brought it up. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :setDates Sets the dates and resolution for the display # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :Print This popup allows you to select to print the file or a range of pages of the file to either a laser printer or save it as a postscript file. If you select a laser printer, enter the name of the laser printer in the text widget. If you select a postscript file, enter the name of the file you would like it saved to. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :text Fill in the text fields and press the done button when done - X Offset should contain a positive integer no greater than the width of the page - Y Offset should contain a positive integer no greater than the height of the page - Text should contain a single line of text which is no longer than the 128 characters - For the font, justification, point size, color, draw layer, and page, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. If the object is not an event, both start and end dates will slip. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :status Fill in the text fields and press the OK button when done. - For the status date, fill in the mm/dd/yy. - For the Draw Layer, Font, Point, Display Status Date, Auto Reset of % Dates, and Auto Reset of Event Symbols, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. - The Auto Reset of % Dates resets the Percent Done dates of the activity objects according to the percent complete date. - The Auto Reset of Event Symbols fills in the symbol if it had occured before the status date. The current page and total number of pages will be printed. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :level Position the cursor over the desired font, point and draw layer values and release the mouse button. Fill in the size of the circle you would like displayed around the text Enter 0 for no circle. The text is maximum two characters that you would like to be displayed in the circle. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :chartdate Position the cursor over the desired font, point and draw layer values and release the mouse button. The chart start and end dates will be printed. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :symbol Position the cursor over the desired symbol, font, point, and layer values and release the mouse button. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :date Fill in the text fields and press the OK button when done. - For start date, end date and status date, fill in the mm/dd/yy. The Display Status Date toggle must be on for the status line to be drawn and the status date displayed. - For Resolution, font, point, and color, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. - For Display Status Date, Auto Reset of % Dates, and Auto Reset of Event Symbols, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. Auto Reset of % Dates will set the percent done value of the activity according to changes in the percent complete date. Auto Reset of Event Symbols will fill in the symbols if the event occured before the status date. - For Flags, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. The Flags allows you to toggle between displaying the Fiscal or Calendar year, or neither. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :plot Fill in the text fields and press the OK button when done. - For the number of lines per page, fill in a number between 1 and 99. - For Horizontal Grid, Vertical Grid, Display Mode, Issue Date, and Number of Pages, position cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :renum Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will toggle the value of auto renumbering. If the toggle is on, the lines will be automatically renumbered when any change is made. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :snapevt The Snap Event Toggle enables you to set up a grid to help align objects on the schedule, especially when you are moving them with the mouse (middle button). Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will toggle the value of snap events. If the toggle is on, then the event can only be moved on the y axis. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :snaptxt The Snap Text Toggle enables you to set up a grid to help align objects on the schedule, especially when you are moving them with the mouse (middle button). Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will toggle the value of snap text. If the toggle is on, then the text can only be moved on the y axis. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :utcbar Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will toggle the value of Display Utc Day of Year. If the toggle is on, then the utc doy will be displayed along the bottom of the chart. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :prev_button Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will set the display to the previous page, if you are not already at the first page. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :next_button Positioning the cursor over this button and releasing the mouse button will set the display to the next page, if you are not already at the last page. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :hline Fill in the text fields and press the OK button when done. - For the text, fill in a string no longer than 128 characters. - For the number to display, fill in the number to be used as the line label. It must be between 0 and 253. - For the Number Display, Line Display, Grid type, Font, and Point, position the cursor over the desired value and release the mouse button. For more information, call the OEL. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :delete_hln Releasing the mouse button over this button will delete the line that the cursor was on when the mouse button was depressed. Any objects associated with the line will also be deleted. This action cannot be undone. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :insert_hln Releasing the mouse button over this button will insert a line prior to the line that the cursor was on when the mouse button was depressed. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :tog_line Releasing the mouse button over this button will toggle the value of the line display for the line that the cursor was on when the mouse button was depressed. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :tog_number Releasing the mouse button over this button will toggle the value of the number display for the line that the cursor was on when the mouse button was depressed. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :id_tog Releasing the mouse button over this button will toggle the value of the display toggle for id text. When this toggle is on the id text of all dated objects will be displayed. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :objects The term "object" refers to either a format characteristic of an XOpps page or to an event, description, or activity related to the spacecraft or project. Types of objects are: Activity A spacecraft or project occurrence that is characterized by a start and end time. A activity usually has a symbol associated with these times. It may also contain a ramp up and a ramp down, and baseline start and end dates. Chart Date A text object that displays the chart's start and end dates. Event A spacecraft or project occurrence that is characterized by a single time. An event usually has a symbol associated with the time of the occurence. Hline The XOpps chart contains up to 253 horizontal lines. The user controls the number of lines that are displayed per page as well as the total number of pages in the XOpps file. A horizontal line has a number and text associated with it. Image An X11 bitmapped graphical image. Level A user defined circle surrounding a maximum two character text item and the word Level. Page A text item that contains the current page and total number of pages. Sequence An activity that has a start and end time and lasts longer than a minute. Displayed as either a line or a bar. Simple Activity A spacecraft or project occurrence that is characterized by a start and end time. A simple activity usually has a symbol associated with these times. Slip A slip in the schedule for either the spacecraft or project event. Status A text item that displays the current status date of the chart. Symbol A graphical marker. Text A single line of descriptive text that can be located anywhere on the page. Precedence Lines A precedence line can be added between two events by pressing the left mouse button on the first object, dragging it to the second object, and releasing the mouse. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :operations To add, edit, or delete an object on the XOpps page, use the Operations menu, available when you press the right mouse button anywhere on the XOpps page (drawing area). Additional Help is available from each object dialog window. To Add an object: Place the cursor approximately where the object is to be added. (If it is a time-based object, the x-coordinate is calculated automatically.) Press the right mouse button for the menu, and drag the cursor to "Add." The Add submenu will appear. Continue dragging the cursor to the type of object you wish to add, and release the button. Notice that not all objects are valid for all areas on the page. Invalid objects appear grayed out on the Add submenu. To Edit or Delete an object: Position the cursor over the object to be edited or deleted. Press the right mouse button for the menu, drag the cursor to "Edit" or "Delete," and release the button. To Copy an object: Position the cursor over the object to be copied. Press the right mouse button for the menu, drag the cursor to "Copy", and release the button. The object will be copied with one utc day added to the start date if the chart covers more than four months, and seven utc days will be added to the start date if the chart covers four months or less. You can then move the object to your desired place on the screen or edit it to change the dates. To Change an Event to a Slip: Position the cursor over the event object to be converted. Press the right mouse button for the menu, drag the cursor to "Event to Slip", and release the button. The slip edit popup will appear with all of the attributes from the event copied into it. Only the new end date for the slip needs to be edited. If you press the left mouse button in the drawing area, the editor will display in the message area the position of the mouse. The information displayed will be the type of object and the cursor position relative to the region. If the position has a time associated with it, the UTC time will be also be displayed. You can move an object by placing the cursor on the object, pressing the middle mouse button, and dragging the object to the desired location. If you press the left mouse button in the drawing area, the editor will display in the message area the position of the mouse. The information displayed will be the Region Title and the cursor position relative to the region. If the position has a time associated with it, the UTC time will be also be displayed. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :Hline To edit, insert or delete a horizontal line on the XOpps page, use the Hline menu, available when you press the right mouse button anywhere on the left column of the XOpps page (drawing area). Additional Help is available from each object dialog window. To Edit or Delete a horizontal line: Position the cursor over the object to be edited or deleted. Press the right mouse button for the menu, drag the cursor to "Edit Hline" or "Delete Hline," and release the button. To Insert a horizontal line: Position the cursor over the line you wish to be below the inserted line. Press the right mouse button for the menu, drag the cursor to the "Insert Hline" and release the button. You can move a horizontal line by placing the cursor on the horizontal line, pressing the middle mouse button, and dragging the horizontal line to the desired location. To enter text into a horizontal line field, position the cursor over the line you wish to edit. Press the left mouse button. A text widget will popup for you to enter the text into. Any subsequent mouse press will unmanage the widget and enter the text into the line. # #---------------------------------------------------------------------- :export This popup allows you to select to save the file or a range of pages of the file to a Macintosh PICT file or Windows META file. If you wish to save int Mac PICT format, enter the filename as either filename or filename.pict and select the range of pages This or All. Select None if you do not wish to save the file in PICT format. If you wish to save int Windows META format, enter the filename as either filename or filename.wmf and select the range of pages This or All. Select None if you do not wish to save the file in META format. If a rangle of pages are selected, a file will be written for each page as filename#.wmf or filename#.pict Select OK to save the corresponding files.
