In order to evoke a psychic power a character must past a psychic test.

= The Psychic Test =

A D100 is rolled; the result is called psychic roll. The psychic roll is compared to test value. The test value is the character's force stat + modifiers (see below). If the psychic roll is lower than or equal to the test value the evocation succeeds, otherwise it fails.

EXCEPTION: A psychic roll between 1 and 5 automatically succeeds. 
EXCEPTION: A psychic roll between 96 and 100 automatically fails. 

= Concentration =

Each action spent concentrating adds a +10 bonus to the psychic test value however the maximal level of concentration is reached after 3 actions have been spent (+30 bonus). The concentration bonus disappears if a character does anything else between concentrating and actually evoking a psychic power.

= Difficulty =

Some psychic powers have a difficulty modifier. The difficulty modifier is added to the psychic test value, i.e. it decreases the chance of passing the test. 

= Range =

It is harder to project psychic force across a longer distance than projecting it at something nearby. This is represented by the following range-based modifiers:

Evoking psychic powers while being involved in close combat is also difficult, this is represented by the penalty for close combat evocations. 

= Psychic Overloads =

If the psychic test results in an automatic failure the psyker suffers a psychic overload. The psyker loses 4D10 force points; to recover the lost points he must recover and pass a -50 force test. 

= Psychic Bolts =

Psychic bolts work much like ranged combat weapons. All normal shooting rules apply to them, except that the psyker's force stat is used in hit calculations (instead of his ranged combat stat), and that the range modifier does not apply, because difficulty due to range is already handled by the psychic test.
