@(#)$Id: INSTALL,v 5.4 1999/09/11 19:07:33 mark Exp $ Installation instructions for icontact: ======================================= To install icontact, follow these instructions: 0. Make sure that you have Perl and the NetPBM packages installed and in your path. NetPBM: ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/graphics/graphics/packages/NetPBM/ Perl: ftp://www.perl.com/ 1. Change the first line of the icontact script to invoke perl as it is installed on your system. 2. The xvtoppm filter can be built just by typing `make' (assuming that you have a compiler and development system on your machine). 3. `make install' will install everything for you. By default, the Makefile is set up to install the stuff in /usr/local/{bin,man/man1}. You can change this by editing the first few lines of the Makefile. 4. Read the man pages. 5. You're done. Enjoy. 6. If you like icontact and/or use it often, let me know about it; it's incentive for me to update it and write other nifty things. If you have trouble installing or running icontact, send a good description of your problem to me at mbh@panix.com. I may be able to help.
