IM Usage

		     <<<Message Spool Keyword>>>

IM treats local mail folders, local/remote newsgroup spools, and local
news folders. For historical reasons, mail folders start with "+"
(e.g. "+inbox). Newsgroup spools are identified by the "-" keyword
(e.g. "-gnu.emacs.sources"). Directories to store locally saved news
messages are indicated by the "=" keyword (e.g. "=comp.lang.perl").

		       <<<Option Convention>>>

(0) Options are categorized into canonical, abbreviate, and
compatible. Many options takes "value". "value" categorized into
string(s), boolean(b|B), number(i), and folder(f|F). (For more
information, see "IM/Config.pm")

(1) Canonical options conform the "--key=value" style.

"=value" can be omitted. If omitted, the following rules are applied:

	boolean(b)	-> "on"
	boolean(B)	-> "off"
	string(s)	-> ""
	folder(f|F)	-> undef

For example, the "--help" option is boolean(b). Its canonical form is
"--help=on" or "--help=off". "--help" is treated as "--help=on".

(Please note that you can use "yes", "true" and "1" instead of
"on". As well, "no", "false" and "0" instead of "off")

(2) Abbreviate and compatible options conform "-k value" for string(s)
and folder(f|F) OR "-k" for boolean(b|B).

If abbreviate option, it is an abbreviation of a canonical option. For
example, "-h" means "--help" whereas "-n" indicates "--noharm".

Compatible options are provided to maintain backward compatibility to 
good old commands. One compatible option may have the same effect
of regarding canonical options.

(3) All command supports canonical options. Each command chooses
abbreviate or compatible, not both!

The current program which chooses compatible options is only "imput".
(Maybe "imget" in the future.)

(4) The "+" keyword means "--src=+" or "--dst=+" while the "=" keyword
means "--src==" or "--dst==" if folder(F) options is
specified. Examples are shown below:

	+inbox             -> --src=+inbox
	=comp.lang.perl    -> --src==comp.lang.perl

Also "-", "/", "~", "%", and "[a-z]:" will be expanded in this manner.

To know these keywords are treated as "--src=" or "--dst=", see the
help message of each command.

(5) Environment variables, config parameters and command line options
but backward compatibility ones are equivalent and are evaluated in
order.

			  <<<Help Message>>>

Every command has "--help" option to display its version, name, and
options.

Help displays actual configuration/option value. For example,
'imls --help' returns:
        --src=<folder> (-s)(+inbox)
while 'imls --help --src=+draft' shows:
        --src=<folder> (-s)(+draft)

For this reason, "--help" is always "on" when displaying help message.

Some commands have "--noharm" or "-n" option. If specified, the
command tells you what will happen if not specified. It's like 
"make -n".

'imput' ('send')
	Post a message by mail and/or news.

'imget' ('inc')
	Get message(s) in the mail spool 

'imls' ('scan')
	List up the contents of the folder.

'imcat' ('show')
	Show the contents of the message.

'imcd' ('folder')
	Change the current folder.

'immv' ('refile')
	Move message(s) from the source folder to the destination folder(s).

'imrm'
	Move message(s) from the source folder to the +trash folder.

'imclean'
	Remove message(s).	

'imgrep' ('pick')
	Enumerate message(s) matched given patterns.

'impath' ('mhpath' and 'folder -all')
	Expand a folder to a file path.
	List up folders.

'imali' ('ali')
	Expand an alias given in .im/Aliases.

'impack' ('folder -pack')
	Pack messages in a folder.

'imsort' ('sortm')
	Sort messages in a folder.

'imhist'
	Treat history database.

'imstore' ('rcvstore')
	Store a message from stdin to a folder.

'imsetup' ('install-mh')
	Set up for IM.

			  <<<Config Files>>>

The config syntax is equivalent to the options style. That is, each
line is in the "key=value" form. For more details, see
"cnf.im/SiteConfig" and "dot.im/Config".

Each command reads config the following order.

	"/usr/local/lib/im/SiteConfig" (for site-wide configuration)
	"~/.im/Config"                 (for private configuration)

Next it evaluates environment variables if required then the command
options. 

			  <<<Scan Format>>>

The '%{width}{header-type}' syntax is available. You can define any
header-type as you want. Default valid 'header-type's are:

      %n    message number
      %d    raw Date: field
      %f    MIME decoded From: field
      %t    MIME decoded To: filed
      %g    raw Newsgroups: field
      %a    friendly From: field
      %A    If this message is originated by yourself, friendly To: 
	    or raw Newsgroups: is displayed in 'To:xxx' or 'Ng:xxx' 
	    format, respectively. Otherwise, friendly From: field is 
	    displayed.
      %P    Similar to %A, but diplay row address of mail sender
            instead of friendly From: field, just like mh-e.            
      %i    indent to display thread
      %s    MIME decoded Subject: field
      %S    indented MIME decoded Subject (same as %i+%s)
      %b    a part of body extracted with heuristic
      %m    Multipart type
		'S'igned, 'E'ncrypt, 'M'ultipart, 'P'artial or none
      %p    mark '*' if the message is destined to you
      %D    mark 'D' if the message is duplicated
      %M    %p+%D
      %F    folder path
      %K    file block size (1024 bytes/block)

      %y    year
      %c    month (digit)
      %C    month (string)
      %e    mday
      %h    hour
      %E    min
      %G    sec
