Topic: Digests

A digest is a stripped-down version of a list.  Listmanager will take messages
sent to a digested list and combine them into one large message.  This saves
time and space in distribution of busy lists.  Listmanager will digest a
list if any of the following list parameters are not zero:

	digfreq		diglimit	digsize

...or if a digest schedule has been defined using the "setdigsched" command.
These four parameters control the conditions under which the digested form
of the list is sent.  Ask for "help" on each of these for more information.

Note that reaching any one of the limits defined for the list causes the digest
to be sent.  Note also that the values are checked after each submission is
processed, not before or during processing; this means that the size of
a digest could significantly exceed the "digsize" parameter if one or more
very large submissions are sent to the list.  Listmanager does not break
large submissions into pieces in order to remain within the "digsize"
parameter.

A list owner may also force the digest to go out, regardless of these values,
by using the 'senddigest' command.

Once one of these is set, the list will be digested.  All subscribers with the
"digest" flag set on their subscription will get the digested form of the list
rather than receiving each submission individually.
