Commands: disable Format: disable Suspends all remote listmanager activity. Listmanager may still be accessed from the UNIX command line on the local host, but all activity that arrives via the mail system (i.e. commands and submissions from subscribers and list owners) are blocked and executed later. This should be used, for example, when upgrading to a new version. All mail-based requests blocked on a "select" command waiting for a database to unlock will abort and retry later when listmanager is no longer disabled. This command is only available from the shell, i.e. you must be able to log in to the machine which hosts mailing lists and access the "listmanager" program from the command line. This should be used with caution, because it doesn't time out. If you forget to resume normal operation with the "enable" command, all lists will go dormant and mail queues will pile up. listmanager will warn command line users that it is disabled at startup time, as a reminder to not leave listmanager disabled unless necessary.
