The other program is expected to have already been started, with no .Ar remote-ip argument, causing it to await a connection from the peer. .Pp These programs are often useful in conjunction with archiving programs such as .Xr tar 1 . .Pp The options are as follows: .Bl -tag -width Ds .It Fl v Increased verbosity. .It Fl p Specify an alternate TCP port to use. The default port is 6060. .El .Sh EXAMPLES To transfer the directory hierarchy .Dv mystuff from machine A to machine B, first on machine B: .Bd -literal -offset indent [machineB] $ suck | tar xvf - .Ed .Pp and then on machine A: .Bd -literal -offset indent [machineA] $ tar cvf - mystuff | blow machineB .Ed .Pp If machine B was behind a firewall, you could do this instead: .Bd -literal -offset indent [machineA] $ tar cvf - mystuff | blow .Ed .Pp and then on machine B: .Bd -literal -offset indent [machineB] $ suck machineA | tar xvf - .Ed .Sh SEE ALSO .Xr cpio 1 , .Xr tar 1 .Sh AUTHORS .An Archie Cobbs Aq archie@whistle.com
