Vision of a universe: "how does it work?" by Raphael, 8th July 2004 how it came: Trying to implement a demo application for the G system I was stunned when I tried to implement the influencing stuff for my derived GAgent. I thought: "How should I handle energy? Can I take just all energy with requestEnergy() and put it all into the influence? Wouldn't this diminish the energy of the element itself? In reality influencing something else doesn't really _take_ energy from you, does it? So how should I solve this issue?". I know, these sort of things should come to ones mind early in design creation, but I always had the feeling and the vision that it worked. But at that very moment it just didn't come to my mind. So now that I thought about it again, I will write it down, so it doesn't get lost. Also because it's one of the very central concepts of the system... Physiology of an universe: There are two regions, that are governed by two (completely) different laws: The first is the one that is currently very well covered by modern science. Summed up you can neither create energy out of nothing nor destroy it, it can only be transformed from one form to another. If you spend energy on something you move energy from one point to another and the sum of both always stay the same. Another area is where ... how should one call it? ... willpower reigns. It's like everything that happens there is distinctly _decided_ upon. There is nothing from where the decision is transformed from, it simply is - willingly decided by a conscious being. So the difference here is that the above described law simply does not hold. This other region of "willpower" (I'll call it that way) can be imagined as something like higher than ones thoughts. We think that our actions are decided by our thought. This much is true, but what then causes our thoughts? Under "normal" (or most) circumstances our environment makes an impression on us and our habit leads to certain thoughts, which then leads to ceratin actions. But if some individual has developed a strong will, then it is not so easily to foresee what the person will do in certain situations. Actions (or thoughts) of such beings are not so much determined by their sorroundings but rather by what they _decide_, what their will _decides_. And... if you think about it... this is not something very predictable. Concluding: We have people that do not use their will, they are (almost) completely subject to their sorroundings. On the other hand there are people whose actions are not much dictated by their environment but they decide themselves what they think, how they feel and what they do. These people have developed willpower, and they use it. So what about it? This means that actions must somehow start from these higher regions. Some will determines that things should go a certain way and that _creates_ energy that drives all participants to a certain goal. This energy is available to achieve the things. So on the lower planes, energy IS only transformed from one state to another, but this origins from the plane of willpower. This is where creation happens!
