1) You should have XView 3.0 or later 
2) how to build perf:
   	xmkmf; make
  or
  	vi Makefile.simple;make -f Makefile.simple
3) start it with
   	./perf
   or
	./perf -\?
4) Press the right mouse button (Menu button) in the perf window.
