If you have gotten this package from CVS and want to build a package from it, it is advisable to update the changelog to show that a more recent version is being built than the version that was current as of the last changelog update. The recommended way to do this is to take the last release version (without the Debian revision number) and then add +cvs.-0 to the end. For example, if the most recent release was 1.8.0-2 and the date was April 7, 2002 (both of which are true as of the moment of this writing), the version would be: 1.8.0+cvs.20020407-0 The easiest way to set up the changelog this way is to install the devscripts package (apt-get install devscripts), and then from inside the main unpacked source tree or the debian subdirectory, type: dch -v 1.8.0+cvs.20020407-0 Make a note in the changelog that it's a personal build, and then type: fakeroot debian/rules binary to build the package. -- Zed Pobre, Debian Maintainer, 2002.04.07
