other modules in the KinoSearch suite.  At one time it was implemented using

Two issues deserve special attention.

First, the \f(CW\*(C`use bytes; no bytes;\*(C'\fR combo ensures that subroutines within the
bytes:: namespace, such as bytes::length, will be available, while still
keeping character semantics enabled by default \*(-- so regexes work as expected,
etc.

Second, the \f(CW\*(C`use KinoSearch\*(C'\fR line does a \s-1LOT\s0 more than it appears to at
first glance \*(-- it loads \s-1ALL\s0 of the \s-1XS\s0 routines in the entire KinoSearch
